Is there any good reason for getting a tattoo?

Tattos By Rangoon RickyTattoos are usually very personal. Although most people have an idea of what they want, make sure you have a tattoo artist you trust to interpret your vision. Most people can think of more reasons not to get them. Guess what, I did some interviewing and found out some pro and con opinions about tattoos. Be sure to give us some feedback here or on Facebook.

Bad Reasons for Getting a Tattoo

  1. Your husband or wife could be, shall we say, put out. It’s best not to surprise them unless you know they will approve.
  2. Your mom will kill you. Especially, if you are underage.
  3. Your girl or guy won’t like it. Sometimes you have to decide which you like more…
  4. Friends might assume things about you now that you have one. It could be good, it could be bad….
  5. It hurts. Hurts soooooOOoooOo good, that is.
  6. You might get a bad one. I mean BAD, not even slightly mediocre. Always do your research and go to the BEST!!!
  7. People you don’t know will assume you tend to do your own thing instead of conforming to the norm.

What about reasons for getting a tattoo? We asked and got some candid answers

Good Reasons for Getting a Tattoo:

Olly: “Of course it is vanity. The same way as nice clothes, nice shoes, jewelry, hair gel, manicures, tt5waxing, shaving and piercings are suggestions of vanity. I love my tattoos, but most of the time they are covered by my clothes. I got them because I love them, and I don’t care what anyone else thinks of them.”

d.j. Tabby: “It can be a healing process for some.  Me, for instance, am just obsessed with art in all forms…though I will get a remembrance tattoo for my dog who just recently passed.

Lucretia: “Usually I’m not a fan of tattoos; however, they are neat if they represent something significant. For example, I caught parts of a news report about a girl who had gotten shot in the head or face. After five surgeries or so, doctors were able to repair the damage. She had 3% tattooed behind her ear because only 3% of people shot in the head or face survive.”

“D”: One good reason to get a tattoo? Because its YOUR body… Shows like LA Ink have made people think every tattoo needs a sad story with it. Tattoos are fun. They’re art and fashion. If people think they’re trashy, so what! That’s their loss. Stop being so uptight people! Let everybody live their lives!

In the end, it’s up to you and your tattoo artist.

Hope to see ya soon!

What happens to your tattoo over 10 or 20 years?
Much of the fate of your tattoo depends upon the skill of the artist, the quality of the inks used, the aftercare used and the care of the skin afterwards.  Sure, the color may fade a little depending on if you are in the sun a lot, but excessive sun will take its toll. Consider your genetics.  How your family’s skin ages in the area where you would like to be tattooed could be a major factor; If their skin is still considerably tight, or hasn’t lost that much of its elasticity, you should be fairly certain that a good majority of your tattoo will be intact.
Very fine lines and details of your tattoo will definitely fade over time, but if you have taken great consideration the factors I named it definitely wouldn’t  wind up being a blob.
I really can’t stress enough the importance of an experienced tattoo artist. Even it your tattoo is or has faded, a really good tattoo artist always has an amazing remedy.
